| Wittmann's one-stop exhibition: Germany - October 14-18 The Wittmann name will be on show next month at Germany's plastics and rubber exhibition, Fakuma 2003 - held from 14th – 18th October 2003 at the New Friedrichshafen Exhibition Centre in Freiderichshafen, Southern Germany. To the fore will be Witmann's capabilities as a one-stop-shop supplier of both automation and materials handling equipment for the worldwide plastics processing industry. Wittmann will exhibit in Hall A1 on Stand No 1210. The company's new small dryer Drymax P15 for drying capacity of plastic resins up to 10 kg/h will be on show. The P15 is Wittmann's smallest size materials dryer and can be used for batch drying or in a continuous drying mode. The unit can be easily clamped on to the moulder's drying hopper, and can be flexibly used on different moulding machines or on a separate stand for pre-drying. Wittmann's new Compact Desiccant Dryer Drymax 30 is also an addition to the Wittmann twin tower dryer line. This unit has a drying capacity of 30m³/h and process temperature up to 180°C. It also deploys electrically operated switch-over valves, and monitoring of process parameters for high quality drying. In terms of robots and automation, Wittmann will be display the new CNC7 Touch Screen Teach pendant that accompanies all Wittmann's CNC robots. The pendant allows direct selection of all programming sequences and teach functions on the screen. Wittmann will also show the new robot W 621 UHSS - designed for Ultra High Speed applications on smaller moulding machines; for example, in making parts for mobile phones. The special telescopic vertical arm is driven by heavy duty belts which reduce the weight of the moveable mass to a minimum and also allow highest accelerations and speeds. The Wittmann robot models are available with single or telescopic vertical arms. The range of Wittmann Granulators - developed and manufactured by Wittmann in France - has been extended by two new screenless models: These are the small Series Sumo Minor with cutting chamber 240 mm x 160 mm for through puts up to 7 kg/h and the large model Junior Double with a double rotor for throughputs up to 60 kg/h - particularly suitable for the processing of hard/engineering plastics. For hopper loaders to the injection moulding press, the new large models of Wittmann loaders (up to 80 litre volume) will extend the company's material handling range of products. The loaders are equipped as a standard with pneumatically operated discharge valves. This secures perfect operation and minimum maintenance, also for resins which are difficult to convey. Wittmann is continually extending and developing its range of mould temperature controllers. The Tempro direct 120 delivers higher productivity on the moulding shop floor. By direct cooling this unit offers extremely high cooling capacities and precise temperature control. The Tempro direct 120 is equipped with heating capacities up to 12 kW and high flow rate pumps up to 90 l/min as well as air surging for mould changes. Further details from Barry Hill at Wittmann UK.
